Swimming pool and pool pump problems.

Q: The pump is humming.
A: There are four possible problems.
- The bearings have seized.
- The pump has run dry and as a result the plastic components have melted.
- The capacitor has blown.
- The impeller is blocked and jammed.

A: There are two possible problems.
- If there is power at the supply point the motor is in most cases burnt out.
- The capacitor has blown.

Q: The pump is not delivering enough water.
A: There are five possible problems.
- The pump is partially blocked.
- The main skimmer basket and/or the pump leaf basket is blocked.
- If a pool cleaner is connected the hose may have deteriorated and the pump is sucking air.
- The sand in the filter is blocked.
- The valves on the suction line are letting air into the system.

Q: The pump is very noisy.
A: There are two possible problems.
- The bearings in the motor need replacing.
- The motor fan is loose or rubbing against the fan cowling.

Q: The pool has sand in it.
A:There are two possible problems.
- The laterals in the filter have failed and need to be replaced.
- The whole filter needs to be replaced.

Q:The pool cleaner does not work.
A: There are five possible problems.
- It needs to be repaired.
- The hose needs to be replaced as they only last about 2 years.
- The hose has leaves in it.
- The skimmer basket is full of leaves.
- The pump is not running properly.
